Press Release: Launch of Comprehensive Due Diligence Project in Rwanda, Uganda, and DR Congo

We are delighted to announce the commencement of a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing traceability and due diligence in the minerals supply chain. Our team of experts has officially launched the project and begun the development of Due Diligence documentation to support the implementation of an action plan across Rwanda, Uganda, and DR Congo.

Enhanced Due Diligence Implementation Timeline

The project is set to implement Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) starting in July 2024, running through the end of the year. This phase will be guided by documentation prepared by our experts, meticulously analyzed and refined to align with:

  • RMI (Responsible Minerals Initiative) standards
  • Adaptations for country-specific environments
  • Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles

Project Objectives

The initiative’s primary goal is to create standardized documentation applicable across various regions and operational contexts. This documentation will:

  • Provide a comprehensive understanding of traceability for upstream players.
  • Ensure visibility of material sourcing from extraction to its inclusion in the final product.
    • Facilitate standardization and improve transparency across different supply chain environments.

Driving Change Through Standardization

This project represents a significant step toward developing adaptable solutions that address the unique challenges of different countries while maintaining global best practices. By equipping upstream players with robust tools and information, the initiative aims to promote ethical sourcing and bolster confidence in supply chain transparency.
We are excited about the transformative impact this project will have on the minerals sector and look forward to contributing to a more sustainable and responsible supply chain.
